    Form populated data - Editable?

    Hi,

I have an Infopath form with many views and submitting data to sharepoint. I have an issue here.

I have a textbox on form for which I am displaying data from the different sharepoint list column. One of the requirements is users should be able to edit the populated data. It don't have to change the data from the list, but it has to save in the form. Is there anyway of doing it?

    Thanks

    Krishna

I don't understand why this wouldn't be easily doable.  What is keeping your users from changing that data?  Are you displaying data from the secondary data connection?  If so, you need to put that data in a data element on your main data source, and then people can update it without trying to affect the data in the list.

Even I thought it is easily doable.

I have secondary data source as sharepoint list and I am using the list column in one of the text boxes on the main source form. When I tried to update it, I am able to enter text in the textbox, but when I save it, the change I made it disappears from the form. Please advise.

List column?  do you mean drop-down box?  Are you saying that you have a data element in your main data source that is just a text type, you are putting it on the canvas, changing it to a dropdown list box, and then connecting it to your secondary data source to display the options?

So, that dropdown can only show items from the secondary data source.  I don't quite understand what you are trying to do.  Why would you want to change that data to something not in the dropdown?  that doesn't seem to make sense.  If you want it to be some other data, then you wouldn't want to use that external data in a dropdown anyway.  What's the real scenario here?  You can easily change the data in your own text box, but you'd not want to associate it to a control that is populated from a secondary data source.  You'd want to have a separate regular text box where you type in what you want.

Here is what I am doing:

I created sharepoint list with columns(multitext) in it.Then I have text box field in my Infopath form and it is receiving data from one of multitext columns on the sharepoint. So, when users fill the form and if they want to change the text in the text box field, they are not able to do it. It is allowing user to type text but when try to save it, the changed text disappears. Hope this is clear. Please let me know if this is not clear and I willtry to explain it.

    Thanks

    Krishna

It's not clear - just attach your XSN.
