Missing InfoPath change property promotion fields in SharePoint history list

     Hi,

I've got a form writen in InfoPath 2007 integrated with SharePoint by fields called as "property promotion". That fields are visible in Sharpoint administration web panel as grey, I think they are separated from normal SP fields and cought from InfoPath. But my problem is that grey fields are not sensitive for any change in a history form - property promotion are not listed as change in that SharePoint history.

For example - after change one field in InfoPath form, save, in SharePoint form history,  is information created about change of whole file, but without an information of change this one field (is not specyfic as in other SP document types as Lists) :(

Can any one tell me Why?

Promote those fields and check the box for making them editable in SharePoint, then see if they show up as metadata changes in the version history.

Re: Missing InfoPath change property promotion fields in SharePoint history list

    warrtalon,

i believe i'm having the same problem. i've promoted fields when publishing my InfoPath 2007 forms to SharePoint/MOSS, and tried checking the box to make them editable too. unfortunately changes made to those select fields still don't show in the version history. everything i've read to date (including the message on the version history page itself included below) leads me to think this should be possible without code. any other suggestions?

"All versions of this item are listed below with the new value of any changed properties."

     thanks!

ps - this is my first EVER forum participation, hope i'm doing it right! :)

Well, we'll have to do some digging, but I can tell you that all of my promoted fields that are allowed for editing in SharePoint do show up in the version history when changed.  I'm looking at one of my form libraries now, and one of the things I change with workflows is the workflow status (a value within the form).  I have to make this field editable in sharepoint for the workflow to change it.  When that value changes, I see it in the version history.

This would lead me to believe that you are not actually doing what you say or think you are doing (not your fault - just part of the dev process).  I would need to see your template in order to troubleshoot it quickly.  You can attach it to your reply by clicking the Options tab.

    thanks for your quick response!

yes, we plan to incorporate workflows too, but at this point we would just settle for viewing what was changed in select fields w/out relying on user comments.

what i'm attaching is simply a rudimentary test doc. i have a more complex form (that is still under development), but at this point i'm just trying to iron out the kinks (w/your help). i don't believe i checked the box for the "zip" field - just promoted it.

It worked right away.  I did check the box for allowing editing on each of the 4 fields.  Screenshot attached that shows the version history.  I changed the state to GA from AL on the 3rd submit, but even the first submit showed it was going to work...

my form library settings in SharePoint must be suspect then. under Versioning Settings i do not have content approval checked, i do have major versions checked (i've tried major and minor too), w/a limit of 6 major versions (i've tried this at the default too), and checked "yes" to require check out. it seems pretty straight forward, but is there something i'm missing?

I only selected the major versions radio button - nothing else.  The rest is done by InfoPath settings.

PS.  I went to Brewbaker, Goodwyn, then JD almost 20 years ago.

hmm. the InfoPath form i sent worked w/no modifications, so it must be our MOSS environment (possibly an install setting)? guess i might need to put in a call to microsoft, you think?

PS. I went to Lee, and my folks now reside in Littleton, CO

The form did require modification to the publishing settings.  I had to check all the boxes for editing.  Did you take the sample form and do the same by publishing it to a new form library with the editing boxes checked?

Lee - arch rivals!  Littleton is just down the road - I drive through on the way to work each day (about to do it now).
