I need my InfoPath form to submit to a SharePoint library AND send an email to an approval group. This has to be repeated several times, as one group approves the form (on the form itself), then submits it to the next approver. However, I need the form to be updated on the SharePoint library as well with the approval info, so anyone can view the form at any time and know where it's at in the approval process.

• I don't want to use the SharePoint workflow, because I need the approval to happen on the form itself.
• I don't want to use the SharePoint alert, because it will bombard the approval group with many email alerts each time the form is updated/submitted.

So how can I create this flow:

1. complete initial info on form and SUBMIT to SharePoint library, as well as notify first approver via email by sending the form as an attachment
2. approver 1 completes their approval section and SUBMITs form again - this should go the Approver 2 via email, AND update the form on the SharePoint library
3. approver 2 completes their approval section and SUBMITS form again...etc.

I know how to set up these submit types individually, but I don't know how to get it to do both, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I think you are done with SharePoint submit right? Sending email with attachment here is the solution,

Initially submitting to SharePoint you have to send the mail to approver1 with attachment. Before submitting the form and sending to mail approver1 you have to set the value in main data source. For this you have to add one new field ‘SubmitApprover1' and data type is Boolean. By default it should be false. While submitting to Approver1, we have to set ‘true' for this ‘SubmitApprover1'field value.

For next opens this form you have to check this field values is true or false. If this field value is false then we have to send the form to Approver1 otherwise Approver2.

In IP2007 you have the option of having the view in the body or the attachment. It is a trust issue for the email acknowledgement.  So that viruses cannot send email without the user's consent.  You would need to use code and full-trust to eliminate the email pop-up and send button.

Hi, I am trying to establish what you have discussed in the blog. I have created a submit button and it uploads the form into a sharepoint library. That works fine. So 1 person fills the form. Now this filled form has to be sent to the approver to review/edit and then submit. I am not sure how to do this.
