    Rule change tabbing behaviour

    Hi All,

I have a strange behaviour with Rule and Order. E.g i have 5 text box on my form. First text box has rule set that when Textbox1 = 14, set textbox4 = 10. Now when i go and enter 14 in textbox1, it is setting the value of textbox4 to 10 but cursor moves to textbox5 instead of going to textbox2. (which is a common user expectation that cursor will move to next control).

I have to go and put the cursor back to textbox2 using mouse. i am developing a data entry application in which user will not be using mouse for repositioning cursor and user expect cursor movement by hitting TAB only.

This is a web based infopath form.

Please suggest how can i set my cursor to textbox2 after entering data in first one?

    Thanks in advance,

    Bhavesh

What seems to be happening is that the focus is being set on the most recent action, which is the action of setting field 4 to a certain value.  You could then perhaps add another action that sets field 2 to null (or whatever else works) so that the focus returns to field 2.  The user wouldn't know the difference.  You also may want to make the auto-populated fields read-only so that they never get the focus, however, when that occurs, the focus automatically goes to the next available editable field.

logically thinking, this sounds good. i will try this solution and let u know that it works or not.

Another thing i would like to add is that the above mentioned issue is only when i publish the form and test in browser environment and not when i see the preview in client mode.

This is something strange and i could not figure out why it is happening.

any way thanks a lot, i will let u know the result.

You will find that there are many, MANY things that behave differently in browser forms than in the rich client, because Forms Services is having to do its best to convert the form to asp code, and things just don't work exactly the same afterwards.
