Hi all,
It must be some kind of illusion-this phenomenon whereby you get stuck on a piece of software and think that surely something so basic would be covered somewhere and yet, after hours of looking, seem to find everything BUT the answer to your newbie question.
I'm not giving up, though, so here goes; hopefully someone can lend a hand.
I use Infopath to capture medical data regarding patient visits. Each visit appends to the last in the form of repeated tables and makes one form for each patient. I have no idea where the data are kept, but they are there every time I open the form. I'm not hooked up to Sharepoint or any other relational database server whatsit. I open form, add/change data, save and close.
Recently I decided to try Windows 7 RC since I use a tablet for this Infopathing and like the handwriting recognition engine in Win 7. Prior to, I dutifully backed up all my patient .xsn files as well as the template they were based on and thought I was good to go.
Now, I cannot open these files. I get the "template cannot be found" error. I've tried opening a form in design mode-which I seem to remember working before, but no cigar.
What can I do here? Is there a way to re-associate the template I backed up with these forms in this new computer bed? Is there a workaround where I can at least open the form in another program, snag the work product and start over? Or, maybe I should just step away from Infopath so no one will get hurt.
Thanks in advance.
Dr. S.
