Re-Publishing a Form Removes Promoted Values

I am not sure what is causing this.  I have a WSS site.  I create an IP form, configure in some fields to promote.  I save an instance of the form to the form library and I see the promoted values.

I then modify the form.  I do not change anything of importance, lets just say I type a letter or change the wording of something.  I DO NOT change the schema or promoted fields.  When I publish the form again to the existing form library all of the form instances that had been saved do not show the promoted values.

Any ideas why?  I can guess.  Any resolution so that when I republish the form the values do not disappear?

    Thanks,
    Jason

There are 2 ways to get promoted fields when publishing to SharePoint. One is to set up the promoted fields during the publishing wizard. This is a one-time deal and needs to be done every time you publish. The other is to go to Tools | Options and permanently set up your promoted properties.

    Greg,

The problem is not knowing how to promote fields - that works.  Let me try to explain again what I am seeing.  I have an InfoPath form and I promote fields by going to tools >> options.  Then I go to the form library and I create some instances of the form.  I see the values promoted in the form library.  Success.

BUT - when I modify the form and then republish the form, I go back to the form and I do not see the values from the old form instance promoted.  Only the new form instances have their values promoted.

    What gives?

This is the fault of SharePoint not doing the right thing.

This topic has been discussed before... you should be able to find information about what to do in these forums. I don't have exact details, and there might be better ways to do it, but I believe that if you export your form files and then reimport them, that this will trigger sharepoint to get all those values back as they should be (don't quote me on it though--do some more research first).

    Hi,

Once try by re linking the forms to the library. To do this, follow the below steps.

    1. Go to the sharepoint library.

    2. Click on view drop down in the right side corner.

    3. Click on Relink documents.

    4. Check the Relink check boxes for all the documents.

    5. Click Relink selected documents.

Hi, Can you follow the below steps to fix this issue.
    1. Take the backup for “template.xsn” file from published location. (build which is already there in  the SharePoint)
    2. Open template in design mode and extract files.
    3. Open manifest.xsf in editor mode.
    4. Search for the keyword "listPropertiesExtension".
    5. Copy the complete node for "listPropertiesExtension".
    6. Open the new manifest.xsf in editor mode
    7. And replace “listPropertiesExtension” node with old listPropertiesExtension node(Which is copied in step 5).
    8. Saved new manifest.xsf and close.
    9. Open manifest in design mode and publish to SharePoint.

Note: Make sure that we are changing in manifest.xsf we have one back up file. If some thing is wrong then we can use back up manifest.xsf file.
