The system will not allow me to submit

After days of reorganising and rebuilding the form, for the large table down to 7 small tables,
I find the InfoPath system will not allow me to Submit.

It advises that I am not permitted the use Submit, because of my data structure.

I start with one table into Data Connection. I use that table because it is part of the key search, and its data is used throughout the form.
Then I add all the other 6 tables as directly subordinate to the first table.

I kept getting the following, for each field that I added:
"You have chosen to bind a non-repeating control to a repeating field or group.
This Control will be bound to the first item in the repeating field or group."

I only used "Sections", I think I was able to avoid setting up any repeat sections.
As I had trouble earlier with repeats on this form.

Can anyone help advise how to construct the form?

     Tnanks for any help provided,
      Ian

    I Ian,

Need more info. Did you design from a database source or is this an XML source? I'm guessing the latter, but just want to be sure. What is the submit going to? A database, SharePoint or a Web service? If it's a DB or Web Service, this is a common problem of InfoPath's. If you start with a semi-fixed schema (inherited from the database or Web service), whenever you make a change to the database or Web service, you have to convert your main data source again, and sometimes even this won't work. My guess, though, is that this is not your problem. Your problem seems to be one related to XML - since you said you changed your tables. If the tables were in the database, you should go Tools->Convert Datasource. If the tables were in the form, it doesn't quite make sense since a submit tied to SharePoint doesn't care what your form's schema is. However, it's possible you invalidated your XML schema's structure. Bottom line: need more info and you might try attaching the XSN.

    Cheers!

Re: The system will not allow me to submit

    Hi Patrick,

I designed the databases from scratch using MS Access. I don't know how to use XML.
Each time I change the db, I do a Modify "Tools\Data Connection".

For a week now, I have one table, as the primary table, all the other 6 are directly subordinate to it.
I didn't cascade them, I could not see if that would be any good.
I regret breaking up the one large table now.   It has caused 4 days of heartache.
I keep thinking I am getting to a solution,  Then more issues.

Another issue beside using the Submit on the IP form, is. I keep losing all my rules and conditions.
They are very complex. and I spend hours keying them in.

The current Form is as mentioned above with the 7 tables. In the Form I have inserted a repeat section for each table. All seems Ok, except I cannot submit.  I do not know where to find database. It is not on on the Button Prpoerties / Rules.

    Anyone have the clues?

    Thanks ahead
    Ian

    Hi, Ian:

Why did you break up your data base table into 7 different tables? What is the message in the Summary section of your main data base connection (if you walk through the data connection wizard again, the last screen, where the connection's name is entered -- there is a Summary at the bottom of the screen that will give more detail about why you cannot submit).

Re: The system will not allow me to submit

Hi again Hilary, yes you are right  2 of the seven tables has a one to many relationship and the summary advise that the Submit is disabled.
I am not sure how I can correct this. Any advice would be welcome. I will return to this later in the weekend.

    Thanks for your help again.

    Ian
