    dropmenu and xml

    Hi,

    I have an imported excel into Infopath 2007 . Currrently, I am using 100 drop menu boxes for each row and entering list values manually 100 times.  Is it possible that I create a secondary data source like an .xml and then point drop menu boxes to refer to .xml instead me entering the list values manually.

    Also, the important point to note here is that all drop menus should NOT get bind to each other.

    This will save tremendous amount of time.

     Thanks

    Jags

    Yes, that is entirely possible to do. The fields bound to dropdown boxes are always different from the source of the dropdown boxes' contents.

    Hi,

    1. Create one xml file with your data. For example you xml file should be like this.
     <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <Vehicles>    <Vehicle Id="1">CAR</Vehicle>   <Vehicle Id="2">Train</Vehicle>

    </Vehicles>

    1. If you do not have id field then remove that from xml.
    2. Save this file with “.xml” extension. (for example “test.xml”)
    3. Add this file as a receive data connection in the form.
    4. And bind that secondary field to your dropdowns.
