Getting prompted when adding custom control

    Hello,
I developed a custom control so a co-worker can use it in his form.
On my machine, I can drag and drop the custom control without issue into a Form Template.
On his Form Template, when dragging and dropping the custom control, he receives a prompt to "select the field or group to bind to".  I do not receive this prompt.
He can add the custom control to a new, blank form template, but his existing form template that he has been working on prompts him every time when he attempts to add this particular custom control.

What would cause this prompt to appear?
    Thanks all

    Hi,

    Follow the below steps.

    1. Open the form in design mode.

    2. Go to Design Tasks pane.

    3. Click on Controls.

    4. At the end of the pane you will see a check box with name ‘Automatically create data source'. Check this check box.

    5. Now drag and drop the controls. It will automatically creates the data source for the controls.

Thanks very much for your reply!

I looked, and on that particular form, the checkbox is greyed out!  Why would it be greyed out?  I'm assuming an option setting somewhere, but I can't find anything relevant.

EDIT: Oh, I think I see the problem - he used a template downloaded from Office Online, which for some reason doesn't allow the checkbox in question to be selected.

Is there any way at all to change this?  I'd hate to ask him to re-develop his form....

    Hi,

If you take the main source as web service or database or some other connection other than Blank form then that check box would be grayed out.

You can change the schema in the xsd file as you like and according to that you bind the controls for those fields.

Sorry I don't know much about schema's and xsd's....  is there a site with a quick overview?  Not sure if I can edit xsd files as I will be uploading the form to Forms Services on Sharepoint (don't even know if that matters)

I see he doesn't even have a main datasource defined or something... there's no "main" listed in the data connections.
