The form does not contain any new data to submit to the data source.

Has anyone ever ran into this issue when attempting to submit a form to say a Database?

when one of my fields i want auto populated is changed then i can submit the data.  I'm trying to use the data already inputted into the database and then submit say survey information into a seperate table from the unique Identifier.

I want to create a form to query data from the database to auto fill information due to a unique identification and also submit data into a seperate table within the same database.

Above about the new data is one of the many errors i run into when attempting to submit.

I've attempted to create seperate data sources to see if that'll help me accomplish this feat.  Once i seperate the query table from the submission table, i run into a seperate problem with me unable to bind a data source to query data from the main data source.

Thanks for the replies by the way.  I wasn't expecting any answers for like at least 4 to 8 hours when i posted my question.

This error is standard and results when no informaiton has been changed.

The data queried has not been changed.

Maybe give us some more background of what you are trying to do. SQL or Access?

I am assuming that the form was created as a database type. The datafields in your data source is what will be submitted back to the database.

You would need to use your secondary query data to update the values in the datafields.

The boxes that you want to submit back to another table, you will need a submit connection to them.  You can right click on the text boxes and change the binding to the fields you need on your datasource.  I presume you have a button that would do the submit, you can just choose it to submit using that data connection.  Also on the database that you are just using to populate fields, I would recommend just to keep it as a receive database, not allowing users to submit.

You can only have one submit per form with the database type, and it has to be designated when the form template is created.  So it has to be architected correctly from the start or you may need to start over.

Otherwise you must use webservices instead.  Also if you want to submit to multiple, unrelated tables, you would need to use web services.

That was why I wanted to understand what you were trying to accomplish more.

Re: The form does not contain any new data to submit to the data source.

I'm using SQL Server 2005 on a Virtual Machine until i can get the bugs and kinks out of the form.  I also want to use the data being stored in the evaluation table to display it in a data view web part on MOSS 2007 to do a drill down.

I've been able to change different data that's being autofilled then do a quick submit to see the changes take effect in the database, but the evaluation data turning up with Null or not appearing at all.

So basically i want to use an infopath form to look up a unique identifier to employees to use that information to make filling out a form easier and proficient, then submit the evaluation results to another table which will have a multiple amount of data tied to the employee for history purposes and to retrieve that data into MOSS 2007 in a drill down format.

if you got more questions that could help out, please ask and i'll give as much info as i can.

Typically then I would setup the main data source to your evaluation data.

Then create another secondary that returns your unique IDs.

Use this for a dropdown which when they select one it seads the query field for ID.

Then run your query to return data on that ID's record.

make changes and submit if there was a change.

Re: The form does not contain any new data to submit to the data source.

The error i run into when i attempt to create 2 data sources in the form. One data source used to submit data into an evaluation table while the second data source set to recieve data from the SQL server to query and auto fill the various boxes in the form.

"You selected the field where the control saves data. Instead, select the field where the control looks up data." This message coming with the data source that recieves data and falls under Data Fields. I've used various text boxes bound to say a Last Name, First Name, Department, Title, and Supervisor's Last Name which is being auto filled when the Badge number combo box is populated with a number and a user presses the Query button.  I've also been successful with using a rule with the combo box bound to the badge number to query the database so the user just selects an existing employee in the drop down menu and have the same effect as pushing a query button to auto populate those fields.

Hopefully this is enough information in what i'm trying to accomplish in the form i'm creating.

I'm experiencing this same problem, receiving this same error, but I think I have a different scenario for my database. I'm new in this arena, so I'm sure I've missed a base, I just don't know which one.

    Here's the error I'm getting:

The form does not contain any new data to submit to the data source.
