The situation is:
= = = = = = = = = = =
We are dealing with XML that is being returned from InfoPath forms that are living in a SharePoint 2007 Forms Library.
When I return the XML via “http get” in JavaScript, it is well-formatted, and a snippet looks like this: (xxx inserted to protect the innocent)
<my:Summary>
<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
In xxx we faced significant developments in yyy adoption of zzz. Issues in compatibility (H/W and app)…
</div>
</my:Summary>
etc…
= = = = = = = = = = =
When that xml doc is viewed in IE (the only browser necessary for this project), we receive this:
The XML page cannot be displayed Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource 'http://infoweb2007/aaa/bbb/I...
In xxx we faced significant developments in yyy adoption of zzz.
= = = = = = = = = = =
When I view the content in Word 2007 with the paragraph symbol clicked to display hidden Unicode characters, it appears that there is an office “symbol” after the phrase “zzz”.
In Word, code with hidden characters appear. One in particular looks like a small circle elevated where an appostrophe would appear: If you are internal, you can view the non-XXX version here.
= = = = = = = = = = =
So the questions are:
1. Is there a way to strip these spurious Office characters?
2. If not, is there a better way to retrieve this XML as WML?
