How to create self-generate Service Request numbers

    Hello,

I need to create a Service Request form for my company. How do I create a self-generate number e.g. ABC-YYYY-nnnnn for the Service Request Number? The YYYY = current year and nnnnn = running numbers.

    Thanks.

    Hi Cindy.

I assume you need this number to be unique? And that there will be multiple form users?

What do you have to work with? SharePoint? SQL?

Hi Clay, Yes. The number has to be unique and the form is for multiple users. And yes, I have to upload the form to SharePoint and we are using Oracle. Thank You.

The only real way to ensure uniqueness and have the number generated sequentially is to use a database to generate this number.

If you want to send me an email I could walk you through how to set this up.
