Does anyone have an idea, how i can pass a parameter to a form after selecting a document in sharpoint and bring its ID to new created infopath form.

Need a little more information to understand your exact situation. One way you could do is it by calling a web service that exposes the ID you are looking for. Make sure you leave the "automatically retrieve data when form is opened" checked so the web service will be called to get the ID after the form has been opened from SharePoint.

I will try to be more specific:
I have a sharepoint page. In the sharepoint there are two lists:
1.Main forms
2.FollowUp forms.
each main have more than one followup.
To create a new followup, i am selecting the parent main form, that have an identifier. I want that clicking the main form will give me in the action list, an optio n to create a new followup. the parent id of the followup will be the selected main form. In order to do that i have to send the main form id to the new created followup id.

Hi Erez,
This is a frequent request. Greg has a sample in the HowTo section or Sample section that shows how to start a form and pass in information. Another option is to use Import and specify a "parameters" xml file but that will require doing some coding on SharePoint. Please use the search bars and search for "passing parameters arguments to InfoPath". Good luck!

InfoPath 2007 supports passing parameters directly via the command line or the URL. There is a very good introduction on that on the InfoPath Team Blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/infopath/archive/2007/02/26/passing-data-into-a-form-input-parameters.aspx

 

Unfortunately, there is no direct way in IP2003. Here is on other options

 I am having a problem similar to this.  I am able to pass my form an input parameter just fine when I call it from the command line. 

However, when I call it as a url it fails to pass.  My form is published to a sharepoint form library.  Any ideas?
