    Change From: line in email-submitted form?

    Just created my first InfoPath form and got it up and running on our SharePoint site.  Yay me.

    The form is set up to email to a recipient (me, for now) and that part works just fine.  However, the sender is listed as the SharePoint service account.  Is it possible to modify the form so that the sender is listed as whoever filled out the actual form?

    We do the same thing at our company and have been told that the FROM line can not be a variable.  You can set it to whatever you like, but it becomes constant.  At our company, we decided to use the subject line to assist in informing the recipient who the Email is coming from. ex. SUBJECT

    concat("From: ", userName(), "@fbinsmi.com E-ISD025") .

    Hope this helps.  tburnie @ fbinsmi.com

     Thanks for the reply.

     I was afraid that might be the case.  For us, that means we just won't be able to use InfoPath forms for this particular instance.  The recipient of our form was going to be an automated system that takes various actions based on the sender's info.  Unfortunately, we can't customized it at all to read from the subject line instead.

    Thanks, though.

    If the email originates from the client there may be a way to set the from within Outlook for the particular emails, but that may be a challenge.

    The only other option is to use server-side email.  Then you can specify the reply address.

    Server-side requires either IFS or webservices like in the Qdabra Database Accelerator Suite Version 2.1 - Developer

     That sounds promising.  Could you point me in the right direction for docs on how to do something like this with IFS?

    In IFS this would be in the email setup for SharePoint.  With browser forms the email is generated by the server.  However it may not be able to be modified from there either.  There may be some way to use a redirection and a forward which would have the logic to change the from address.
