First and last name separated by colon instead of comma using "Check Name" in InfoPath browser form "Contact Selector"

    Dear All,

I have installed Windows hotfix for making the InfoPath 2007 client application to use comma to separate first name and last name in Contact Selector "Check Name" function. However, I published the same form to SharePoint Server 2007. It failed to separate the first name and last name with comma but colon with "Check Name" function.

The form has been launched for company use and users are not satisfy with the email check name function. Please help to shed some light on how to make the "Check name" function work properly in SharePoint Server 2007.

If there is any patch need to install to SharePoint server, please suggest.

    Thank you very much!
    Regards,
    Ada

First and last name separated by colon instead of comma using "Check Name" of Contact Selector in BROWSER-ENABLED Infopath form 2007

    Hi All,

I have a contact selector (connecting to server for Active directory names) control in an InfoPath 2007 form that is published to a Microsoft Office SharePoint server 2007. User can enter user name as last name, first name. In this scenario, the control resolves the comma between the last name and the first name as a semicolon. Therefore, the last name and the first name are treated as two names. Additionally, if the first name or the last name is an alias for another user, the name will resolve to that user."

The above problem can be resolved with the hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958787. However, it only works for InfoPath Client application. The Check name still fail to resolve name when user open the same form in Browser (IE 6.0).

The form has been launched for company use and users are not satisfy with the email check name function. Please help to shed some light on how to make the "Check name" function work properly in SharePoint Server 2007.

If there is any patch need to install to SharePoint server, please suggest.

    Thank you very much!
    Regards,

Both posts say the same thing.

I still contend that it's ridiculous for users to EXPECT to be able to manually type in people's names in reverse order with a comma and a space.  That is the least efficient manner of choosing a user and should not be the standard way of doing it.  They should be taught to use username or simply hit the button, which is the 100% best way to do it.
