Batch file to change field of InfoPath Form

We are using IP 2007 and WSS 3.0.  As you know Sharepoint stores all the xml files within the file system on the associated server.  I am wondering if there was a way to programatically change a field in that xml file without having to open the form.  I wsa thinking about a batch file, but I wanted to get your ideas to see if this is even possible.  We have a  large number of forms that are stored through Sharepoint so opening them up and changing the field and then saving them back would take forever.  If you could just let me know if you have any ideas about this.  Thanks

With our webservices, we have added the ability to resubmit any or all submitted forms, obviously with Sharepoint that is not available.  I am not aware of any other tools out there. It is a problem that occurs unfortunately where the form is updated or a new requirement is added.
