using a large number of bound data sources

I am creating a quality audit guide with attibutes that never change.  I have attached an audit notes and discussed with RichText control box.  I have over 100 fields needed.  Is there anyway to set up a data source for each box without having to add a new box for every item?  I have attached an example of one section.

Ok so you are saying you want an Audit Notes field a Discussed with for each area of compliance.

But you want to have it built for you...

Are you going to save this data into a database or just keep it in the individual form?

Where is the layout text coming from? Are you pasting from Word or something?

I do not think there are a lot of ways around it.

If you used a backend database you could have all of it load from there but either way you have to setup your original data schema. In SQL you could have section, number, section test, audit note, discussedwith, etc.  Then you would have a repeating structure and you could load your data from excel or some comma delimited source hopefully.

How are you going to identify the person completing the audit?

Do you do any scoring? If you had the data in a database you could also report on scores or the number in compliance, etc.

Ok one at a time :-)

Yes, a notes field and discussed with for each area of compliance.

I have made 80 data sources already for each.  But with the remaining areas left I have a 100 more to do.  Time consuming LOL.

It will stay with each form on a shared portal.

I made the tables and have pasted the questions from Word.

I have drop down lists for the auditors.

I have already built the grading scheme by putting radio buttons at the end of each section while using an algorithm in infopath.  Works nicely by the way.  Took a half of a day to figure out.

Yeah looks like I just have to add each bound source..... I also e-mail this report when it is done as is.

I do not have enough knowledge of Access or SQL to use them in the background.

Looks like I am in for making some

    OK sounds good.

The only additional things I would say are:

You could ID the form user and be sure whom was completing it and they would not have to select it.

A backend database would allow you to collect the results in a table for reporting and analysis via web report or Excel.

I am guessing you are creating a group for each question and then the two nodes inside each group, 180 times over.

I have seen these kinds of forms before, they are huge.

Another thing is that I would recommend multiple views. Have each section in logical order and then have navigation buttons where they can move between sections.  This is usually preferrable to scrolling all the way through them.  You can copy and paste between views so it is easy to do. You also can use sections and have check boxes to collapse (hide) them. That way once it is completed they could expand or collapse sections and just see the scores without having to go through all of the individual details.

     Have fun

Gotcha, thanks Clay.  Mainly we have confirmed no copying of data sources which is what I was looking for.  And yes I have it broken down into views as you recommended.  I did not know about the collapsing though.  I will have to investigate that.

     Thanks
