Only first row of repeating table are committed to SQL database

    Hi!

    The problem is urgent.

I followed the instructions of tutorial "Configure Database Mappings in DBXL" and succeeded.

I made a slight change to the sample form in the tutorial, just change the child table's Primary key to an identity key, and add another colum to relate to the Primary key of the parent table.I assumed the form can commit data successfully to the SQL DB with one row added in the parent table and several rows added in the child table(mapped to the repeating group in the form).

But actually, I found only the first row of the repeating table(mapped to the child table) is committed to the child table.

I'm not sure whether it is because of limitation or there is any configuration could resolve the problem?

    Hello.

DBXL can "shred" to multiple nested tables and even seperate tables but some times this can be tricky.  The key is that you will need to match your table structure in SQL and your data source in your form.

So if you have in your form

    Main

       Group1

       Field1

            Group 2

             Field2

You would need a table in SQL for Group1 data and then a child table for Group 2

In the DBXL Admin Tool you would need to configure your mapping with table1 and then add a table within it for table2 with the appropriate keys.

If you would like to set up a time where I could help you with this send me an email.

Re: Only first row of repeating table are committed to SQL database

    Hi Clay

    I have resolved this problem.

The reason for the problem is just as your hint that my database is somehow wrongly mapped.

The datasource in my form is as following:

    Main

       Group1

          Field1

          Group 2

              Group3

                   Field2

I mapped the child table to Group 2 instead of Group 3, thus the following colums are mapped with xpath my:Group 3/my:Field2.

When I change the child table mapping to Group 3, and then remapped the fields, the xpath changed to my: Field2.

Would u please give further explaination what's the difference between the above 2 ways of mappings? And why the first mapping caused the problem?

    Thank u so much!

    Wish u a good day :-)
