    Logic Inspector and Conditional Formatting

    Hello,

I use the "Conditional Formating" to update the "Hidden" and "Read Only" settings of each field according to conditions.

The review of those settings for each field is very boring so I wish I could use the "Logic Inspector" to perform this review but unfortunately the inspector review only :
    - data validation,
    - default value,
    - rules,
    - event codes ?

Do you think "Logic Inspector" could be extended ?
How could I perform this review from Visual Studio C# program ?
Any suggestion or workaround to perform this review easily ?

    Thanks in advance. Regards,

One thing that can help is using sections and hiding them instead of the individual fields when possible.  Often some form changes can make a big difference in the design time and maintenance without compromising the user experience.

    Thanks,

To show/hide fields it's easy to group them in a section and add a conditional formatting at this level.

But is there a way to review the "read-only" setting (this setting can not be configured in conditional formatting at section level).

When I try to perform this review from Visual Studio, I access to any information store in the XML files but settings such as "read-only", "rules" (store in the .xsn) are not easy to access ?

    Best regards,

There is not that I know of.  But again from an architecture stand point, almost all of our solutions have an edit view and a read-ony view.  So instead of doing everything field by field we take the edit view and copy it and then convert every control to an expression box or make them all read-only without any rules.  Typically a user will have either read-only rights or edit rights.

    Good Luck
