    Speed when amending cell info

    Hi ,

I have a simple but large form that is causing problems:

Has 600 fields (text boxes) that calculate several other fields when entered by user.

These users are complaining about time it takes to tab between cells once they are updated (about 7 seconds each).

Is there a way to stop the form calculating each cell upon entry and gave an update/refresh button at the bottom to do it in one hit?

If I "throw" memory at the server will this time be decreased, currently dual xeon with 4gb looking to increase this to 12gb?

I have read the posts about response time issues - are there going to be any patches to cure this?

    Thanks

    Carl

Hardware Improvment will probably not give you a lot of improvement unless it is already paging or performing poorly.

You should be able to contruct your form so that you can have the validation happen once instead of field by field.  It just requires removing the rules from each indivdual field and moving them all to a button.

Another option is to but the data in a database such as SQL express, and then using web services like in the Database Accelerator you could create queries instead and not have to wade through 600 fields each time.

Thanks Clay for the answer we had come to the conclusion that throwing memory wouldn't cure our issue. I have one more thing to clarify and it should be simple it just will not work:

I have set the Browser Forms Postback Settings to Never for cells that are entered but do not include formulas and then set the formula cells settings to Only when Neccasary etc...this cell contains the formula and I have added a button configured to Action = update form and a title of update form - only problem is it does not work when published.

I have tried a simple 3 box form to test and added field1 and field 2 = field 3 - update when the button is pressed.

Am I missing something or going mad!

    Cheers in advance

    Carl
