populate a set of textboxes from all items in a dropdown

Hi!, i just wondered how it would be possible to extract every value in a dropdown/listbox and populate a set of textboxes with that information

e.g. a dropdown populated with a set of 10 dates from a list if each value could be transferred into a seperate textbox (i know it seems pointless but its the best way to use infopath xml with external applications)

i appologise about how cryptic this is, im tired >.<

im not sure if it needs Jscript code or could be accomplished with built in code

    Thanks for looking

    Regards

ben (the guy that cant use xml/infopath)

Don't manually populate your drop-down list box control. Instead bind its options to a secondary data source. Then you already have a repeating list of text boxes.

i am using a secondary data source to populate the dropdown/listbox, waht i want is a way to populate a set of textvboxes, i dont want to use repeating fields as the third party program i use can only read unique field names so repeating values arent usefull atall

or possibly if i could find out how to extract one dropdown list value say the 1st item in the list, any idea on how that could be done, ive seen a post on how to add an item to a dropdown but nothing on how to get an item from a dropdown

thanks, any help would be very much appreciated

Since you are using a secondary data source (2DS) , it's just DOM methods like you would use on the main DOM. You just have to request to get that 2DS before selecting your node value.

For example: thisXDocument.GetDOM("My2DS").selectSingleNode("/Root/List/Option").text would select the value of the first option in a list from the My2DS secondary data source.
