hi,

first time poster, so bear with me :).  I have a data field (f1) on an infopath 2007 form.  I want the default value to be blank, unless the following is met:  another field (e1) is greater than 0 and less then 2.  In that case, I want the value of (f1) to subtract 2-(e1). 

for example, if e1 is a value of 1.5, then f1 will be 0.5.   If e1 is 3, then f1 will show nothing.

Does that make sense i hope?

Instead of using the default value, set a rule for e1:

1.  Set a condition for the rule (e1 is greater than 0 and less than 2). 

2. Use the rule to set a value of f1 to 2-e1
