Newbie Infopath / Sharepoint / Database question

    Hi All,

I'm currently trying to put together a project using Infopath and Sharepoint to facilitate the booking of holiday / absence requests in our company. The theory is pretty straightforward in standalone infopath environments but when it comes to implementing this on our corporate sharepoint server it becomes more complicated :(

Having done some reading on querying and submitting data from infopath to a database on the web it would seem that web services are the way forward. However, here comes the problem - All of the articles I have read on making this work assume administration rights to the sharepoint server. This is something I don't have given the fact that it's a company server on the company network. My rights as a user extend to being able to create a new site.

Is there a workaround or any pointers people can give me?

    Hey Fonzie, welcome.

You at least need a teamsite that you have control to share your form via SharePoint.  You would need to get admin permissions on the server to deploy web services and if you are going to have database integration you are going to need some admin rights to SQL, etc.

You should look at the Database Accelerator download.  This can be installed by your IT admins and then you can have all the webservices you need and access to your database for your forms.  http://www.qdabra.com/proddetail.asp?prod=QDBXL1

I believe this is a must for any enterprise solution as it gives your forms almost instant integration with your database, active directory, and SharePoint.  It is made to enable your situation where you are more the information worker and not an IT admin or developer.

Let me know if you need more help.
