Force a Location to "Save As" an InfoPath Filled-In Form

Just getting started with Infopath and taking some baby steps...

I took the sample Applicant Evaluation form and modified it to be a Training Class Evaluation form for our Training Center.

To keep life simple initially, what I would like to do is simply have the students fill in the form and then "Save" it to a common folder on the training server.

I notice that when Publishing the InfoPath blank form to this common folder it offers me the option to then "open from that location" which I do.  I then fill in the form as a test and when I click Save, sure enough I am right there in the Common folder on the Training Server and I can save my completed form there just fine.

However, if I simply link to the blank form and have the Students launch it via the link, when they click Save, the default location is now their local My Documents folder rather than the Common folder on the Training Server.

My goal is to have the InfoPath form ALWAYS act like it does at the end of the Publish step when it offers to "open the form from that location" and then the resulting Save iof the filled-in data is also to that same folder.

Hopefully, I've explained this well enough to get some assistance with a solution.

    Thanks!

    Hi Kris and welcome!

This is a common scenario, to control the process and submission of the filled out form.

What you want to do is create a submit button for your form instead of having them ad hoc save it.  You can go to tools and submit options to see all the features.  You would need to set up a dataconnection to submit to the network file location, you can create a naming scheme by concatenating the name and date or something.  You can place the submit button on your form and call it save or whatever you would like.

Let us know if you need other assistance.
