I stumbled upon Hilary's blog that teaches you how to auto check-in/out a browser form:

 Very awesome, but I was wondering; I see there's an 'undo checkout' operation listed in the web service list (the http://server/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx one).  One of the things I've always wanted to do was have a timeout on my form that booted people out of it if they were keeping it open too long and stopping others from using it.  I was thinking about following this guide except with Undo checkout and using custom code for a timer; does anyone know if this will even open up the form for others?  I figure it might save me a lot of frustration if I ask now rather than try it and find out it doesn't do what I thought, or doesn't work with this technique...

Sounds cool. You should give the undo checkout a try without bothering with the timer code, so that you have a proof of concept in place -- add a button on your form that will call the undo checkout query connection, check out and open a copy, have another user try to open your checked out form... then run undo checkout and have the other user try again.

If it works manually, then you can add your timer code... and post back after you've tried it, 'cause I'd love to know how it works out for you.

MSDN for the method makes it appear that this will work well in InfoPath -- the method takes a single string param.
