I'm new to InfoPath and have designed a form with many help dialogs. These dialogs are launched by buttons masquerading as field labels. However, when I print the forms, these buttons and their respective labels don't appear. What can I do to make these buttons display when printing?

Welcome to our forum! Ah this is a common problem! I encountered this many times when creating tabbed dialogs too. Unfortunately, originally in v1.0 we didn't realize how much buttons would be used as labeling and action. I tried some simple tricks but there isn't really a way to work around this issue. The reason is that there is no way to control the print view. My recommendation would be to redesign your form so the buttons are little ? buttons and the labels are static lables. A nice way to make these buttons look better is to highlight them and set the font to Webdings or other and then find a character for the label that represents what you want. One that would work in your situation is the Webdings character that is the letter "i". That is an lowercase "i" with a circle. I like to make it bold and color them green or blue or something to have them stand out.

OH! There is one other option. It's quite tedious which is why I didn't think of it first. You could copy paste the entire view into a second view, then replace all the buttons with static labels. Then designate that second view as the "print view" for the first and the printout will show the labels as it's actually using the second view when printing. This is not great though since you have to now make any changes in two views.

Many Thanks! I was anticipating your response. The forms should be fairly static, so using a print view shouldn't add much maintenance. Do you know if this will be fixed in the 2007 version?
