I know how to extract the files that are in the .xsn file. But I have
questions concerning changes made to the manifest.xsf and other files.

1. When I save the form in InfoPath design view are the changes in the files
automatically put back into the template..xsn?
2. When I open the template will the manifest and other files that I
extracted to my hard drive get extracted again or updated automatically?
3. Will I need to extract them each time I open the form in design mode?

Welcome to forums.

After extracting files from .xsn file,
1. When you save InfoPath form in design view Whatever the changes you have done those are automatically reflected in template.xsn.
2. Extracted files and manifest will automatically updated when you open the template.
3. No need to extract the form again each time when you open it in design mode. You have to save changes to the form.
