    submit/retrieve connection?

I read Matt's topic about "Automatically Populate Fields from a Drop-Down Selection". And I got data from database using secondary connection,it works great for my application.
However, I would like to update the data which is populated on the form and save it into database after using this technique, I could not since the secondary connection is used just for retrieve data. So it means the Submit button is not functioning at this moment. Do you have a workaround? Thanks!

Hi Accesswang, and welcome to the forums!

I beleive you must create the Main DOM of your form based on a DB schema in order to submit, so for your situation to work you'd have to recreate the form in this manner. Otherwise, you could try out our awesome DBXL product that does shredding from any XML schema (i.e. your Main DOM) into a SQL database! There's a free trial located here:http://www.qdabra.com/proddetail.asp?prod=QDBXL1

Thank you for your quick reply!!
Basicly, I do have a form with a main connection (to the backend database) which is for retrieve and submit. And I do have New, Query, View, and Submit buttons which are working well. Then I added this feature(auto control) on top of my application. But after I added it in, here is what was happening:
    1. It populates all names, when the form is open.
    2. when I click a name, other fields are populated automaticly
    3. then I try to update the other fileds and save
I got some error messages such as you can not use the main connection to save data (which you get it by using the retrieve connection) to the database. I was asked to save data to sharepoint or some else.

I will try your DBXL as well.

    Thanks again.
