    Audit Log on button click

i have created an apporval form with 3 different views. i want to implement an audit log which will keep track of approval stage with time
e.g when submit is clicked - audit log should look like Submitted by 'fieldname:username'on 'time'.
when approve is clicked - audit log should look like Approved by 'fieldname:username'on 'time'.

i dont want to use the code behind - perhaps just using rules.

Which would be th ebest way to adddress this (repeating section based on click - if so how? or in rick textbox with line breaks after each log)

Sorry -- you will need to use code-behind. The reason is that rules cannot insert a new row into your repeating section--it can only update values of existing rows.

If all you want to do is change an existing value (which is not really a log), then you can use rules. If you want to add a new row with the new values, then you need code-behind.
