    Update Template.xsn

    Hello.

I have forms library in SharePoint. There are many forms ( files .xml with data), they are based on a template (template-old.xsn).

At present, i need modify template.xsn due to new needs (template-new.xsn), then i need copy the data of old forms (based on template-old.xsn) to new forms with new infopath template(based on template-new.xsn).

Someone know some solution about it?

    Thank you. Good Day.

Buenos tardes gsantosgo y bienvenidos a esta "forum"!

Have you tried using the "Relink forms" function from within SharePoint? Try these steps to relink your forms to the new form template:

    1. Browse to your SharePoint library
    2. Click on "Modify Settings and columns"
    3. In the General Settings section, click "Relink forms to this library"
    4. Check the forms you would like to relink, and then click "Relink Forms" at the top of the page.

    I hope this helps!

I believe just publishing the new form the the old library (Choose Modifying an existing form library) will work either.

    Hi Gsantosgo and welcome,
Be very careful when you modify the XSN's data source. Make sure that you don't a) change the name of nodes, b) change their structure, and c) add new nodes as optional. Otherwise, simple relink won't work for old forms as their schema won't be compatible.
