    Infopath/SharePoint/SQL

    Hi everybody,
I'm trying to create a infopath forms available from the web via my sharepoint site.
In these forms I would like to use fields pointg to the SQL server of my Sharepoint server. That mean that I would like to create a specific table on the SQL Server and then, in a site, use forms able to add/modify records in that table.
    Is that possible ?
Does anyone proceeded to this ?
Do I have to design the form directly on the server ?
Because when I'm designing a form on my local PC if I chose a SQL server as reference in the Datasource, I have to chose a SQL server recognized and available from my location at devel time...
    And...
The SQL server used on my SharePoint server is not reachable at that moment...
Of course We can develop web parts in .NET technology but it would be rather quicker to use InfoPath if possible...

Thanks in advance for your advises...

    Best regards.

Hi Luc and welcome to the forum :-)

If you want to use SharePoint for some kind of web publishing, i cannot reccomend going directly to the SQL server!

You risk compromising your portal and be sure that Microsoft wont help you if you did this :-O

Instead you can make this possible using the soap web services that SPS has available for just this purpose:

you could add data to custom lists in sharepoint or wss using lists.asmx web service (web method GetListItems) using CAML

check either your SPS SDK or do a search for GetListItems in this forum to get a better picture of what is needed.
