How can I get my columns from infopath to stay in SharePoint after i have published the form to SharePoint? Each time i edit the form in infopath, i have to add the columns each time, under form options "Property Promotion" before publishing to SP. Thank you!

That is not expected behavior. I've not run into this issue before. Perhaps try downloading the InfoPath form from the SharePoint library to edit it, to make sure you have the copy with the properties promoted? You can go to Library > Advanced > Edit Template if this is a form published directly to a library.
