Hi all, I apologize that I am very new to this- I work for a non-profit and we do not have funds to hire someone more skilled at this than I am and I am in need of help (and advice). I apologize if this is too long- im not sure how specific to be and I don't know what to call everything!
What I am trying to do:
- I have created a simple sharepoint list that will allow us to capture, view, and respond to issues that occurred with out projects. These issues are assigned to various groups within the organization so each issue needs to populate as it's own line item in the SharePoint list (I have created views in SP for each group to only see their own line items, but also need an overall view for management to see all line items).
- I would like a single InfoPath form that can capture non-changing project data once, a repeating section that allows us to capture and assign multiple issues - each issue will be its own line item in SP, but also include the non-changing project data.
The information I need to capture:
- Non-changing project data (information that is needed by each group, no matter what the issue is)
- fields are as follows:
- Client name (single line of text)
- Project name (single line of text)
- Event code (single line of text)
- Admin Campus (drop down to select campus)
- PM (people/group control)
- Faculty (people/group control)
- PC (people group control)
- Hotel (single line of text)
- Transportation Provide (single line of text)
- The PM would also capture multiple issues (we call Quality items) that occurred in their project. The fields are the same every time, just the inputs change depending on the issue and campus/team assignments.
- fields are as follows:
- Quality item title (drop down that allows the PM to select the group responsible for follow up)
- Quality item details (multiple line of text)
- Assign to campus (drop down list of campuses)
- Visible to client (yes/no drop down)
I have been reading about repeating sections/tables in Infopath, and playing around with it, but cannot figure out how to:
- complete the non changing information above only once
- be able to add unlimited repeating sections of the quality items (above)
- upload multiple lines of quality items to SharePoint, and each line of quality items includes the non-changing project data (above)
I thought I could do one of the following with some guidance:
- create a form with repeating table for the quality items and use xml to capture 'header' information for the non-changing information, but I could not get it to work for the people/group control (which is vital to our operations).
- create it all as repeating section, have the non-changing information copy over after it has been filled out once, and then hide the duplicate fields (so only the quality item fields show) when the users insert an item- but I can't figure that out either.
Im at a loss- begging for help!
Thank you,
J
