I've been tasked to use InfoPath and SharePoint in ways they weren't designed and I need some help :)
There are essentially two steps to this ask - 1) Create a form with a set of fields (this form will be a template of sorts and will be reused with other libraries) but the fields in the form will be populated with data related to a certain contract. 2) This exact form with the input data needs to be copied X number of times.
The hope is to be able to input how often the data in this form needs to be delivered into the form and then generate that many copies of the form to be stored in the form library. For example, a report must be generated from the form data on a monthly basis over the course of 3 years, so I need 36 instances of that form with the data that was originally input in Part 1 output into the form library. Then I'll have a workflow that notifies the users when one of the due dates is coming up. So Form 1 will be due January 1st, Form 2 will be due February 1st, Form 3 will be due March 1st, etc. So due dates need to be set based on a schedule for respective forms and there needs to be a specific identifier for each form in the library. And to top it off, while there will be different form libraries for different contracts, one contract can have multiple types of deliverables. So one contract can have 3 different data sets input into the same form template. And each of those data sets will have a certain number of deliverable forms attached to it. With "Data Set" A I could have 20 deliverables, "Data Set" B maybe only 2 deliverables, and "Data Set" C 12 deliverables. In total the form library will have 34 records and each will be editable by the end user.
I'm hoping this makes sense. But can anyone think of a way to duplicate forms like that? I've tried a workflow and got close - I said to loop a copy of the created document to another library (which is fine, I don't care where the forms are housed, so long as they are together) but this method didn't work because the workflow failed since I didn't want to paste the same exact record into one library multiple times with unique identifiers, so I think it just overwrote the previous copy and in the end there was only one copy of the form in the new library.
Anyway, now I'm rambling, any and all ideas are welcome, thank you!
