Lock Form from editing when being submitted

    Hi,

I am producing a Promotion Proposal form (first time I have ever used Infopath) I have worked out how to use the rules to create user groups to control who the document can be accessed by and who it is sent to with buttons.

The Issue I now find myself with is that when the submit button is pressed I need all of the values for the text boxes to become read only however I have no understanding where to start with this.  I have read about conditional formatting but cant seem to get this working.

     Regards

    Dave

You can have a hidden field for Status.

It could be: Status=New, or Status=Submitted

When the form opens, the status is New. When the user clicks the Submit button, change the status to Submitted and the submit using your data connection.

Then you can have conditional formatting rules to disable fields if the value of Status is equal to Submitted. When the users reopen a submitted form, the controls wil be disabled!

    Hope this helps.

Conditional formatting can be found in the Manage Rules for a control. You could also create a read only view that you switch to when your conditions are met.

Hi Hillary - I have a form with a dropdown for status: (1) Started, (2) Pending Review, (3) Incoming Review Completed, (4) Supervisor Review Completed.  Based on the status selected, an email is sent to the next person in the process with the link and instructions to change the status to the next level to initiate another email to the next person.  When the form submit button is clicked in all cases, the data is submitted and the view switches to an information page view which can be closed.

The last status is "Supervisor Review Completed" and when changed to this status and submitted, I would like the form to be locked from further changes.  I created a read only View of the form called "Locked From (Read only)" which is a replica of the default view where the form is populated and what I would like to happen is when any of the form users opens the form from the link in their email, the read only view is what appears if the "Supervisor Review Completed" is the status.

How do I use conditional rules to switch to the read only view once the form status is changed to "Supervisor Review Completed"?

Under the Data tab in the ribbon, find the form load rules. Add a rule on form load that if status = "Supervisor Review Completed" switch to the read only view. :)
