    Populating Textbox, Based on 2 Drop Down lists

    hi im working out a form in infopath.
    What I need is the following:

    I have one main drop down called "dealer_choice"

    I have a secondary drop down called "system_choice"

    and a textbox called " price_system"

    ill explain the situation:

    I need to make a dealer choice in the first drop down. Depending on that choice of the dealer,the price of the system that I choose needs to be equal to the dealers choice

    for example:

    dealer 1 -> 45 inch screen ->  $ 500
    dealer 2 -> 45 inch screen ->  $ 400
    dealer 3 -> 45 inch screen ->  $ 300

    All the data to populate the fields are from SharePoint lists.

    Now is there a way to get this fixed non coded? by using, for example some rules/filters?

    Hope you can help me out.

    Kevin.

    asuming you have a list schema like

    dealer      product   price

    you can create a data connection to your list in the infopath form

    and in the default value of the text box of your form set the value to price column filtered on the condition

    where dealer = dropdown1  and

    product = dropdown2

    I've splitted the form up in 3 parts because i need more then just the system but I figured it would be the same step for the other two.

    its like this:

    dealer (dropdown)

    __________________________________________________________________________________________

    system (dropdown)                             racksystem (dropdown)                                              usb (dropdown)

    __________________________________________________________________________________________

    price (textbox)                                    price (textbox)                                                         price (textbox)

    so to put all the info in 1 list isnt going to work, because if I want to choose a system , and the usb's are in the dropdown of the system it wouldnt be that clarified

    so the lists are build like this atm

    3 lists build up like this:

    system | price dealer 1 | price dealer 2 | price dealer 3

    racksystem  | price dealer 1 | price dealer 2 | price dealer 3

    usb  | price dealer 1 | price dealer 2 | price dealer 3

     is it maybe better to re-arrange the list content?

    greetings, Kevin.

    Re: Populating Textbox, Based on 2 Drop Down lists

    in this case you will need to write rules on the dropdowns

    on drop down dealer you will need to have three rules (each having three action), one each to set value in each price text box for different dealers selected, and on other three drop downs you will need to have a  three rule(having only one action each) to update its respective text box, typical rules will be like

    codition if dealer = dealer1

    price (textbox system ) = price dealer1  filtered on the condition where system = system

    price (textbox racksystem) = price dealer1  filtered on the condition where racksystem= racksystem

    price (textbox usb) = price dealer1  filtered on the condition where usb= usb

    i would suggest you better change the schema of the table

    make only one list

    product          | dealer | price | category

    system prod1  dealer1  100     systems

    system prod1  dealer2  200     systems

    system prod1  dealer3  300     systems

    in this situation rule implementaion will be real easy

    on the main drop down you have one rule having three actions

    price (textbox system ) = price  filtered on the condition where system = category (secondary data connection) and  dealer (secondary data connection) = dealer(drop down)

    thank you for the help :) but still did it another way .

    I have made a main form with 1 drop down, this contains the 3 dealers.
    if you choose dealer 3 for example a new form will open and you can choose the system there and get the price (of dealer3) filled in automaticly
    so i have 4 forms in total , 1 main and 3 dealer forms.

    but still thank you for helping me out!

    greetings!
    kevin

    instead of different forms you could have used different views

     i tried it with the 3 views, but when i want to use the button to upload the data i can only make 1 profile to send it to a sharepoint library, i need to have 3 cause i have 3 different forms in those 3 different views
    is there a way to get around this then?
