Refresh promoted Infopath fields in Sharepoint

    Hello -

I have a pre-existing infopath form that is plugged into sharepoint and has a view associated with it. I wanted an additional field from the form to be shown in the view, so I republished it using the Publishing wizard and added that new field to be shown as a column in Sharepoint. That worked.

Now the new column is available to use in a view, but the data is all blank for that field! I can only get the data to show in the view if I open a form and re-submit it. Is there any way to refresh the view to pull the data from my newly added field? I'd like to avoid individually resubmitting a lot of forms.

    Thanks in advance!

I think relinking the forms may do this - that will update the modified by and modified date tho. I know for some people that is a BIG DEAL and for others it is not.

You can go to the relink view and relink just one to see if it populates the data....

I believe this can also be done in PowerShell without changing the modified info - but I'd have to go on a hunt to see if I still a script around or if I am imagining that. :)

    Hi Hilary,

I'm trying to look for PowerShell guidance to update forms (the XML docs) in an InfoPath form library via PowerShell, and I'm a bit stuck... wondering if you have found any scripts to do that.

I've seen uses of Set-Content and also .Save, but to save without changing the modified info is usually done via SPListItem.SystemUpdate().

    Thanks in advance,

    Dan

     Hello Hilary,

I am looking for the PowerShell code to update the "HREF"  value in the "InfoPath form" without changing the modified info.

Can you please help me with it?

Here's a sample from a colleague of mine that should help you.

I don't think this will work with SharePoint Online. You'll probably need to take another approach. One thing that I've seen work is to open the library in Explorer view, select all the files, copy them, and paste them into a local folder. For some reason, this updates the promoted properties without changing the modified date / modified by - again, just copy the files OUT of the library, no need to paste them back in. Test with one file and see.

     Unfortunately it didn't work.

I copied one file from windows explorer and pasted it in  my local folder.

When refreshed the browser, it is still pointing to old template.

I see - you'll have to relink the forms, I'm afraid, in the relink view. I thought you just needed promoted properties updated.
