    Infopath 2010 Rules Disappearing

    Hi

I wonder if anyone else has come across this or maybe able to point me in the right direction.

I have created an InfoPath form which has a 'refresh data' button which when clicked refreshes the current users details.  There are also a number of sections within this list form.  All has been working fine until recently.  Now when I open up the list form in InfoPath all the sections are changed to an optional section and the refresh button rules have disappeared!  I have tried redoing the rules and 'save as' with the list form but nothing seems to work.

If anyone can help I'd be really grateful as the thought of having to completely redo this form is going to be a nightmare!

    Many thanks

I've not seen this - I haven't worked with very many list forms tho. If you create a new list, and customize it with InfoPath, do you have the same issue re-occur? Maybe that will help narrow down whether you are having an issue w/ InfoPath or with this specific list form.

     Hi Hilary,

It doesn't do it on new list forms, so I have made the assumption that it is something to do with this form.  It is quite a complex list form, and maybe there is a limit to the number of sections or rules that you can have.  It is strange as up to about 4 weeks ago it was working fine.

Can you attach the XSN to a reply under the options tab? I'm not sure I'll be able to figure out what's wrong, but I'd be happy to take a look. :)

     Hi Hilary,

I can't seem to see how I attach the xsn file to this message.  I have tried it again, but on preview the 'button' rules disappear and the optional sections return.  Hoping you might be able to shed some light on this.

     Many thanks

In a reply, you should see tabs. One of them is Options. Click on that, and you can upload a file.

Wow, I see what you mean. Later today I'll try to compare this to a different list form & see if I can understand what's going on.

So, in my form from a SharePoint 2010 list, the schema files in the form are quite a bit different from yours. Is this list form from a SharePoint 2010 site? I'm wondering if the difference is because I'm using IP 2013. At any rate, as I was trying different things with yours - it stopped doing what it was doing. Which is also weird. Can you save the attached file locally, right click and select design and preview to see if the sections still show as optional? FYI - I disabled most of the data connections & the form load rules so I could preview w/out hitting Cancel 100 times.

yes, you are correct - the list form is from a SharePoint 2010 site - I have had that before when I saved the file and then published it worked fine - then the next time you go to customise it throws the optional sections.  I have saved your attachment to my desktop and have opened it in design and the optional sections don't appear - One thing I did wonder, is if my pc, which has been troublesome lately and 'stops responding' might have had something to do with it.  This also started when I added the last section for 'raffle' which has an 'other, please specify' dropdown and I put the free text box in a section.  I have removed that section from the template I sent you.

     Hi Hilary,

Just wondering if you'd had any more thoughts about my problem?

    Thanks
