Data connection validation rules while filling up a form

    Dear All Good day,

I have created an InfoPath Form for the users to enter details on planned visits for vessels. All the entered records are available on the SharePoint List.

Lets say that we have the following entry on the sharepoint list:

    | Vessel Name |  Visit Date   |
    |       ABCED    |  01-10-2016 |

    Now the problem :)

Each vessel can have many planned visits, but for the same vessel, if the Visit Date entered is within a period of +45 days of any other Visit Date of the same vessel entered before, I just want to show a notification on the list, NOT to refuse the entry to the saved.

    Many thanks in advanced.

I would add a data connection to the list or library where the form submits. Don't run the query on form load (that is a checkbox toward the end of the data connection wizard). Instead, once the user enters the vessel in the form, set the query field for the vessel name with the selected or entered vessel name and then run the query. You should be able to check the returned rows for anything where Visit Date is > or = today with -45 days added to it and show a message to the user (either in the form in a calculated value, or if this is a filler form, with a dialog box).
