This question probably fits an existing forum more suited than this. I just don't know what it would be.
I need to offload a bunch of SharePoint forms library records (InfoPath XML files) to a Windows file share. Our SharePoint administrators are severely limiting the maximum number of records for our lists and libraries.
My thoughts were to take forms library records that are more than five years old and off-load them to a file share. However, when I open the XML file from the file share, it still points back to the xsn template of the library from which it came. This makes sense, however, I need the xml file to be independent of the SharePoint library and need to be able to open the file fro the file share regardless of whether the SharePoint library even exists. I hope this makes sense.
Is there any way to offload these xml files to a file share and still be able to open them, perhaps have the XSN template in the same file share folder and have the XML files point to THAT XSN ?
I'd appreciate any help. I need to get hundreds of InfoPath XML records off the SharePoint, yet I still need to be able to access the data.
By the way, most of these XML forms records have file attachments. So, I'm not sure that converting them to PDFs would work in this case.
Thanks!
