Validation within InfoPath 2013 sharepoint 2013 form

    Hi All,

I have a form that I am designing in InfoPath 2013 and publishing to a SharePoint 2013 on-premises enterprise edition.

    Imagine the form as follows:

    1. name and department boxes, set as mandatory

    2. checkbox, when ticked, shows a section

    3. in the revealed section  there are two drop down boxes

The validation needs to work as follows:

If the check box is ticked, the section that is revealed needs to have every box filled.

How should I do this? I have tried using the validation rules, but these seem to make the form unvalidated even if the section is now showing.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

Hi, I think validation rule would work by specifying condition {dropdown} is blank AND {checkbox for section 1} = TRUE for all fields in the section.

see attachment as a sample xsn.

Or, as an alternative style? you can set Action rules for your Submit  button which checks

    * if the section checkbox is ON, and any of the fields in the section is Blank, then show message. then check "Don't run remaining rules if the condition is met".

Then users will see better message, and cannot submit until the condition is satisfied.

    Thanks,
