    InfoPath 2010 - Required Fields

    Hello,

I am creating a form that has multiple forms inside of it utilizing different views.  So the first page is 4 redirect buttons (that change the view) to 4 different views (or forms).

The problem i am having is that when i try to submit one of the forms, it is telling me that there are required fields that need to be filled out on different views.  One thing i did to try and fix it was to create rules that disable the forms that are not in use by using the formatting tool to hide and disable the other fields in the form. This didnt work.

So what i am looking for is a way to remove the "cannot be blank" formatting from the other views when one view is selected.  I received two suggestions on another site but I dont really understand what the guy is saying.

Here are 2 workarounds for you:

    1. Set a blank space to the other can’t be blank fields when they are been disabled.
    2. If similar can’t be blank fields in these 4 forms and only one form to be will be used when you submit it, then we can only need one can’t be blank field and use it in every form.

If anyone can tell me what that means or you have another solution i would be very appreciative.

    Thank you very much

    Hi Dan B-

You should make the fields not required, and then use conditional validation/formatting, to require the fields necessary for each view.

For example, you can add red highlighting to the field, or you can disable the submit button until all the fields are filled in.

    Good luck!
