Need to hide/disable "Open this task" in Outlook

Hi, I want to hide or disable the "Open this task"  control in Outlook that the user gets when they receive a workflow approval task item. It's not fully functioning in our system, but the user must also be on our network in order for it to work (which they may not be when they get the email, and I don't want them to think this is going to work).  I've found lots online about "fixing" issues with it, but I can't find anything about getting rid of it. I was hoping there was a form option or something where I could tell it not to display it (or hook up to Outlook).

We use InfoPath 2010, Outlook 2010, web browser form.

    Thoughts?

Is this the out of the box workflow? Or a custom workflow?

This is a custom workflow in Designer 2010 (it was the ootb approval workflow that was customized in Designer).

So, sorry if I am asking something obvious - can't you just edit the email that is sent in the workflow?

Right, the emails have the link to the task approval form. That's what I want them to use.

However, when you open the email in Outlook, Outlook has a task button within it that shows up. I think Outlook just recognizes that it's a task, and puts the button there (unless there is something in the approval process code that says to allow it to hook into Outlook). The Outlook button doesn't fully function correctly, so I don't want them to use it.

Ohhhhh, I understand now. Sorry! Now is the part where I get to say "No, I don't know how to do that" :) I do wonder if it is something in the email itself that tells Outlook to display the button - I will try to dig around a little later today or tomorrow and see if I can find anything.

Thanks! I searched online, and could find documentation regarding issues with the button not working correctly (and possible solutions), but I couldn't find anything about not showing the buttons. I think you know what I'm referring to, but putting in a screenshot of outlook (I had worked up the screenshot before I saw your reply, and hadn't had a chance to upload it yet :) ).

The emails are html pages that I created and the pasted the code into the string builder and added the lookups for the fields... here is an example...do you think it could be something in the automatically generated (I didn't build LOL) header... like something in the Doc ID code?

Re: Need to hide/disable "Open this task" in Outlook

I'm pretty sure it is in the email header.

I set up an approval workflow and when I took a look at the header for the task notification, I found this:
    Content-Class: MSWorkflowTask

I don't see a way to get rid of it, however - the header doesn't seem to be something we can control in workflow. Maybe remove the "email task notification" step and replace it with an ordinary send email step?
