    Repeating Section with Dropdown Lists filled from Sharepoint List

    Hello, I'am struggling on a specific problem. I have an Infopath 2010 form with a data connection to an Sharepoint list (Sharepoint 2010 Server). Thats is all working pretty nice, but I have the following problem: I have a repeating section with 4 dropdown list fields which are filled with data from the Sharepoint List (cascading dropdown list). For the First Section the whole thing works perfectly. When I add the next section and choose the Fields, it seems that the filtered data will be merged between the first & second section. Is there a simple trick to refresh the fields when a new repeating section was added by the user or prevent the data merge? I spend abound 2 horus googling, without any result. I hope you can help me :-) Best regards Chrsitian PS: If you need further info please tell me.

     I don't understand what you mean by this:

    Can you attach a screenshot (under the Options tab) in a reply to better describe the issue?

    I'm wondering if maybe you are filtering by setting SharePoint list query fields and executing your query? Or are you returning all list items and then adding a filter to the drop down properties?

    Re: Repeating Section with Dropdown Lists filled from Sharepoint List

    Hello Hilary, thank you for your feedback. Ok then I will try to bring some light in the dark :-) (Please find attachted all screenshots in the "screenshot.zip" file) I have a Sharepoint List with the following structure -> attachment -> sharepoint-list.png In my repeating section "Optionale Berechtigungen" i have four dropdown lists and each is connected with my sharepoint List (cascading) -> attachment -> dropdown-properties.png When I fill all dropdown elements in the first section of the repeating section element then all is fine. I got only the entries which met the filters. When I add a second section of the "Weitere optionale Berechtiung hinzufügen" Button. Then the Filter results seems to be merged together. In my example in the screenshot (-> attachment -> Merging-Problem.png) i have first choosen the "Rolle" role.employee with the related "Dokumenten Gruppe" docGroup.cs.R (but this "rolle" has 6 diffrent "Dokumenten Gruppe"'s) and this is correct. In the second section i have chossen the "Rolle" role.co with the "Dokumenten Gruppe" docGroup.fi.RWE (which is the only "Dokumenten Gruppe" for this "Rolle"). But instead of only getting the "Dokumenten Gruppe" docGroup.fi.RWE, i got also the 6 other "Dokumenten Gruppe"'s of the "Rolle" in the first section. When I add more sections with other "Rolle"s the problem goes further. Sorry that my form is in German, but I hope you can understand what my problem is. PS: Sorry for the formatting but it seems that my sections aren't processed.

     In the filter on the dropdown, change the first dropdown to "the expression" and copy the XPath out of the text field that appears and paste it into a reply, please.

    Re: Repeating Section with Dropdown Lists filled from Sharepoint List

    Hi Hilary, thank you for your repley:
    first dropdwon: no filter
    second dropdown: ../d:Title = xdXDocument:get-DOM()/my:Felder/my:Create/my:CreateChooseOptionalPermissions/my:ChooseOptionalPermissionsRepeatingSection/my:ChooseOptionalPermissionsFields/my:OptionalRole
    third dropdown: ../d:Document_x0020_Group = xdXDocument:get-DOM()/my:Felder/my:Create/my:CreateChooseOptionalPermissions/my:ChooseOptionalPermissionsRepeatingSection/my:ChooseOptionalPermissionsFields/my:OptionalGroup
    forth dropdown: ../d:Document_x0020_Type_x0020_Descri = xdXDocument:get-DOM()/my:Felder/my:Create/my:CreateChooseOptionalPermissions/my:ChooseOptionalPermissionsRepeatingSection/my:ChooseOptionalPermissionsFields/my:OptionalType
    I hope this helps :-) Thank you

     I think the issue here is that "current()" is not being used in the filter.

    Where is the dropdown located? Can you attach your form to a reply under the options tab?

    Generally, I'd guess the filter should be:

    ../d:Title = current()/my:ChooseOptionalPermissionsFields/my:OptionalRole

    But that is just a guess.

    Hi Hilary,

    I have attached the form. So I hope this will help :-)
    I have never used current() how does it work?

    Thank you for your support :-)

    Re: Repeating Section with Dropdown Lists filled from Sharepoint List

     I've attached a copy of your form with the filters on the dropdowns modified. Since ChooseOptionalPermissionsFields is your repeating group, and the context for the dropdown is that repeating group, the filter looks like:

    ../d:Title = current()/my:OptionalRole

    Save the form locally. Right click and select Design to open in design mode. From there you can preview and see if this resolves your issue.

    For more on current() in InfoPath: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/infopath/archive/2004/09/13/228881.aspx
