RefreshSharePointListItems - How to with a Sharepoint Task List

I have a Form that properly submit new tasks in any site / subsite Sharepoint Tasks List

I also can decide where to store the form, so I'm able to choose which library to use.

Now I'm trying to have Tasks informations updated / refreshed when i re-open the form, so i'm able to see if a task is completed or any other change is applied from Sharepoint List.

I tried with the informations provided by Hilary Stoupa in her article : http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/hilary/archive/2012/07/05/qrules-refreshsharepointlistitems-walkthrough-for-v4-2.aspx

I have not been able to create a data source referred to the task list, since ( it seems ) the tasks are not XML file.

So my question is : how can I inform Qrules to update / Refresh from the list named "tasks" in the subsite named "http://site/subsite"

I have a mapping that I use for submit data to the task list, that also is submitting under some conditions and it works.

Should I use the same mapping for Refresh ? How to build a correct XML data source when the tasks are not ( in my mind ) xml ?

Thank SO much for any help. I'm really happy of the job done with Qrules ( instrument, and People's support ) up to now. Thanks again

Hey, Roberto - just to clarify here, the issue is that you can't create an owssvr.dll connection to your task list, right?

     Correct.

the aim is to be able to "refresh" the tasks fields when reopen the form after submit.

    Thanks Hilary

Can you try adding this to your URL for your owssvr.dll connection: &Query=*

So - URL looks like (with your URL info, of course):

    http://server/site/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?Cmd=Display&List={2138ba9b-cd4a-4a63-9d4a-0e0e781e3b19}&XMLDATA=TRUE&noredirect=true&Query=*

Hi Hilary, the hint you gave me is fine. It permits me to crate a dataconnection with a task list .

    Second step ....

As a rule, in FinishedLoading ( Qrules )  i have this command :

    RefreshSharePointListItems /dsname=SPListRefresh /mapping=mappingstarter01

Where SPListRefresh is the newly created Dataconection

    and mappingstarter01 is attached.

The result I receive from Qrules is :

Error querying for SharePoint List Items for list {90ABED44-BDBA-4ED8-987A-AF2B46326BA4}: Il prefisso dello spazio dei nomi 'z' non รจ definito. | Failed to refresh list items: No list items to refresh. Verify parameters are correct. | Failed to refresh list items: No list items to refresh. Verify parameters are correct.

Can you enter the URL you are using to create the data connection in your browser's address bar and save the returned XML and attach that to a reply? Thanks!

Thanks - I'm going to compare this to the XML returned from one of our 2013 task lists and verify that refresh works on one of our servers then we'll go from there.

Re: RefreshSharePointListItems - How to with a Sharepoint Task List

Okay - so I set up a test form in SharePoint 2013 that submits to and refreshes from a Task list and did not have any errors or unexpected outcomes. My XML from owssvr.dll had the same structure as yours. I'm perplexed by the error you are getting - "The prefix of the namespace ' z ' is not defined". Your end goal is to use this in the browser, right? Have you tested the refresh command in the browser yet? In the browser, the command should use different code, and I'd be interested to see how the error changes or if it occurs - or is this the error you get in the browser?

This is   the screenshot of the debug info:

In the last page you have the debug informations.

Hope it can help you with the analysis.

I'm assuming you are re-opening an XML file - can you send me a copy of that?
