    InfoPath Headace

Ok. The only time I ever use this program is at work. They use this program but no one knows how to fix it if something goes wrong. We had the program on a different computer, saved files from it for a newer computer to use and when I went to open the file for infopath, it would not open. I somehow got it to work, I can not remember how however. I somehow or somehow it went back to not opening. I can open up one file from the server, but not from my computer. If this makes any sense.

ok. So... here is what happens when I try to open the file on my computer.

Security Notice: Warning: A server must be contacted to open this form and personal information may be send back to the server if you choose to continue. You should only continue if you trust the server's location, which appears below.

    E:\manifest.xsf

Do you want to open this form.

     So I then click OK.

    Then the following pops up.

This form cannot be opened because it requires the domain prmission level and it currently has restricted permission. To fix this problem, open the form from the location it was published to.

    Published location: file:///E:\manifest.xsf

There is no E drive on the server. I am guess however, that a USB drive is the E drive.

    Any help is appreciated.

Are you trying to open the template to make changes to it? Or just to fill it out?

I've actually made changes to the form itself. Dragging a line basically to make a field a little larger or smaller. I use it to fill out of PO's ( purchase orders ). But somehow when I was trying to get the older files to open it would not work. I somehow got the form to save with newer files but it still would not open up older ones. If that makes any sense, lol.

So - you'll need to republish the template. Where do you currently open the form to fill it out? From SharePoint? Did you republish to SharePoint already?

What happens when you try to open previously filled out files with the updated template?

    Here are the basics: https://support.office.com/en-nz/article/Publish-a-form-bd6eb030-b26b-4774-b22b-7c80e0089403?ui=en-US&rs=en-NZ&ad=NZ&fromAR=1

All I was taught when I started working where I am was, "This is the form we use for our records when we order items". I clicked the file, the form opened, I filled it out and saved it. Nothing more. When we unhooked the old computer and hooked up the new one, the files would no longer open. I somehow managed to get the form to work again as if it was a new one. but it would not open older files. I can open the form and save. But can not open the older/older older files.

Ok. I got it working. You probably know better than me why though.

I took the files from the old computer and put them onto a USB drive. Which when I put into the newer computer it opened the older files. However, the older/older files still will not open. Here is the message I am getting.

    Form template: file:///C:\Documents%20and%20Settings\hangerd2\My%20Documents\AIM%20PURCHASE%20AURORIZATION%20FORMS.xsn
The xsf:script element in the form definition (.xsf) file is missing the following src attribute, or the attribute is not valid: script.js

It sounds like you fill out the form from a network share or a local drive, not SharePoint. You may need to republish the form to the original location. Sorry I can't be more help - I just don't really understand what you are trying to describe. In general, templates need to be republished to a new location, not just copied over. Filled out forms are linked to the template via the href in the XML file. So, if you open one of the old forms in a text editor, you can see in the first few lines where the template is the file is linked to.

Your the best. That worked. I opened it up in the design and did a quick published and now all the files open.

Thank you so much for your help Hilary.
