    Infopath, Sharepoint and Data Connections

Hi Everybody, I'm working on a project where I've created an Infopath form which ideally I would be able to distribute through email to clients and teams inside and outside of my company and which will submit via both email and sharepoint. I'm running into some issues and I think I'm discovering the limitations of Infopath. How should I go about this if I want the form to be submitted primarily to an internal company sharepoint library which has restricted secure access which the users won't be able to access? In other words, I want to send the form out via email, which I understand they will have to have Infopath to view, and when users submit the form it gets uploaded to the sharepoint and simultaneously emailed back to my team lead. Is this possible or do I just need to set it up so the form is manually uploaded to the sharepoint by my team once it's emailed back to us?

    Hello lancergsr1,

In this situation your options are very limited. If you do not have a part of your SharePoint site that is available externally, then the process would need to be manual. If, on the other side you do have a portion of your site available externally, you could submit to a different library, and then run a SharePoint workflow to move the form to the desired location. You could also have an email submit from the filler that could send the form to a specified email, where the person who is internal could then open and "resubmit" to your SharePoint library.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks Bre, I like the last idea a lot, how do I go about designing that kind of process?

    Hello lancergsr1,

I would add something like a sharepoint list of userName() for the people that should be able to resubmit. On form load, you would set the query field to userName() for the list, and then use that list to set permissions on a section with the submit button that will not show unless there is an entry present in the data fields from the query.

    Hope that helps!
