Hello there!
I have a 3-level structure; Level 1 is the "department-level", there are multiple products assigned to each department (Level 2) and in addition to that there are multiple modules assigned to each product (level 3).
To build this structure I created 3 Lists on SharePoint.
List 1 for the departments: only contains 1 column with 1 single line of text.
List 2 for the products: contains 1 column with 1 single line of text and another column with a lookup on the department-column in list 1.
List 3 for the modules: contains 1 column with 1 single line of text and another column with a lookup on the product-column in list 2.
What I want to do:
I want to create a form where the user can select one or more departments and based on that selection a list of those products is shown which are assigned to the selected departments.
After that the user can select one of the shown products and based on that selection he can choose from the modules which are assigned to the selected products.
The problem is that I don't know how to filter the data in my second MSLB (the one with the products).
I want to filter the data like that:
Show me all products from the list "products" where the entry in the look-up-column "department" equals to the checked departments in the previous MSLB.
When I created the field for my 2nd MSLB (the one with the products) InfoPath 2013 automatically created a data-connection which queries the entries of the "product-column/title-column" in my product-list. But I couldn't use the Look-up column "department" in this list for my filter. Therefore I created another data-connection which queries that lookup-column aswell (same for the 3rd MSLB). But when I filter like that:
Department value (from my data-connection for the 2nd MSLB) equals to department value (from my first MSLB)
/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:SharePointListItem_RW/d:Title[xdXDocument:GetDOM("Departments")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:SharePointListItem_RW/d:Title = ../d:Department/Value] )
Independend of my selection the Product-MSLB is empty.
I created a rule which says that I query data from my data-connection for the 2nd MSLB when I change something in my 1st MSLB (same rule between my 3rd and 2nd MSLB). That's why the field is empty and not filled with all the entries. The rule seems to work because the MSLB is filled with all my products if I don't filter its data.
I really hope you can help me with this problem! Feel free to ask if there are any questions open.
I wanted to attach my form but i dont think it would work since it is directly connected to SharePoint lists and their elements.
If needed i can make screenshots.
