What if you want to query form data DIRECTLY from the XML forms? QueryDocumentNodeSet is a web service included in DBXL, and Report Builder is its interface. With ReportBuilder you’ll be able to create a report that extracts data from the XML files. With QueryDocumentNodeSet you can create data connections to query XML data directly into your form.

Qdabra DBXL Training - Module 5 - QueryDB

Using the QueryDB web service included in DBXL, we can set up our InfoPath forms to query data from SQL databases.
In order to execute the steps in this document, you will need an InfoPath form that submits to DBXL. Luckily, we have already done this in the first two modules.

This module is compatible with both scenarios discussed so far in this training: Event Receiver and Integrated.

Qdabra DBXL Training - Module 2 - Event Receiver scenario on SharePoint 2013

Using the Event Receiver, the InfoPath form does not need to be modified to include the data connection that submits to the DBXL Web Service. The InfoPath form template submits to a SharePoint form library, and the Event Receiver maps those forms to DBXL.

This scenario is most important for SharePoint 2013. Therefore, the tutorial in this document will focus on SharePoint 2013. However, the steps should be similar if working on SharePoint 2010. The Event Receiver has not been tested in SharePoint 2003 or 2007.

Contrary to the integrated scenario, DBXL does not need to be installed on the SharePoint site. In fact, DBXL can be installed on a different site or even a different server!

Qdabra DBXL Training - Module 1 - Integrated scenario on SharePoint 2010

The first two modules of this training session will illustrate the main scenarios when using DBXL. We begin with the “classic” scenario, that is, the scenario Qdabra has recommended to its customers using DBXL v2.7 or earlier versions.

We call this scenario “Integrated” because DBXL is installed on the SharePoint – 80 site. This module will be executed on SharePoint 2010, whereas Module 2 will present a different scenario preferred for SharePoint 2013.
