Hello Hilary,

Is there a way for your to share this project because I'm not able to get pass MainDataSource at all and I've tried to include all the dll that I know of. My version of infopath is 2013 and I'm using VS2012 and VS2017..nothing seems to works. My basic requirement is to print InfoPath form to PDF. Thanks for your help in advanced and stay safe!!

Hi - I haven't tried this in later versions of SharePoint. I don't have a 2016 on prem SharePoint site. Here's a link to the docs on the REST API for Excel for 2016 - You could compare URLs / functionality to the docs and see if it looks the same?

Hello Hilary,

I haven't visited this site in a while, but this tutorial and the video (which you have elsewhere) were extremely helpful in getting a bunch of my work off the ground!

Anyway, my question is, as far as you are aware, does this type of data connection between InfoPath and an Excel document, such as the chart, still work with a SP 2016? My IM contacts have told me that my solution, a tool using InfoPath SP and Excel, which I won't bother describing more here, contains some features which have been deprecated in SP 2016 and the SP deployed at my workplace is being upgraded from 2010 to 2016 in the next few months.

This is not the case for hiding sections, correct? In my experience, the rule in this case is placed on the Section, even though it is referring to another field as a condition. Please correct me if I am mistaken - this is simply how I have seen it done, and have been doing it so far.

Yup - this blog post was written in 10/2015. Since then, MS has modified Office 365 and the user profile service is supported.

However, you probably need to set the user name field and run the query for your user profile service, instead of just running the query on load. Have you tried that?

Generally, I put the query & data fields on the form (while working out what I need to do) and add a button to execute the query. Publish to Office 365, and try the query. Make sure the profile property names are the same as in Filler [Preview] - they may not be. :)

Hi Hilary,

I'm hoping you can clear something up for me. Everything I have read says that I cannot utilize the UserProfileServices for InfoPath in O365, yet your link at the top of this page takes me to an article that says that the following calls ARE supported and UserProfileService/GetUserProfileByName is one of them. Do you think you could help clear this up for me? I desperately need to pull in the current user, email, preferred name and manager if possible. It all works correctly in InfoPath 2013 of course but as soon as I move it over to the SP Online environment, no go.

I'm using IP 2013 & SP 2013. I've done until the data connection.

But I couldn't find "Checked_Out_To" to add in Form Load Rules. Please guide me what will be the next step?

Thanks Hilary. I got it working in the browser form. I think my problem was I didn't have the full path to the form library.

Well, I'm sure you noticed my note about the issues with this approach in filler, so I won't reiterate that - but you may just want to drag the query fields for the data connection onto your form & add a button to execute it to test it.

As to your issue in the browser, you will likely need to talk to your SharePoint admins about getting the error from the logs and resolving it. On our test servers, we disable loopback check, but there are other, less insecure approaches your admins may prefer.

Hi Hilary,

I now realize I am getting different errors for filler and browser forms. For the browser for I am getting the can't connect to web service error. However, when I switch to using the filler, I get the following error:

The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: CheckOutFile

InfoPath cannot run the specified query.

The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred on the server:

Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.

<detail><errorstring xmlns="schemas.microsoft.com/.../">Parameter pageUrl is missing or invalid.</errorstring><errorcode xmlns="schemas.microsoft.com/.../detail>

Here is the formula I am assigning to the pageurl from the CheckOutFile data connection: concat("http://server.com/site/", my:WR/my:EventTitle, ".xml")

I have added a pageurl field to my form and it is not being pulled in from the secondary CheckOutFile data connection
